Mailing House # 2

This brief is to update mailing agents and their customers on how the current extreme weather conditions in many parts of the UK are affecting  mail operations and services to Royal Mail customers.

Royal Mail Contingency plan:

  • Using all available means to transport mail around, out of and into the UK
  • Maintaining collections and deliveries wherever safe to do so
  • Keeping branches open and collecting from post boxes
  • Ensuring regional distribution centres and other sites are accessible and operational
  • Continuing to accept, prioritise and deliver (where possible) premium services. E.g. Special Delivery
  • Keeping weather conditions under review and updating customers

However, in areas where it is unsafe, there may be a small delay in mail.

Getting back to normal, as soon as conditions allow:

  • Continue to move and deliver delayed mail in the order it was received
  • Recovering normal service levels and employing all available resources to help to process and delivery mail quickly
  • Keep customers up to date

Where Royal Mail is unable to collect, the network can still receive mail if customers need to post items urgently.

Deliveries will take place as usual, although delivery times may be subject to some variation.
